(Raising Outstanding Character Kids) program. The
kickoff is September 1st, and she would like the Band there. Treasurer’s Report:
Pat Brune reported on the MPA finances, including a
2005-2006 year-end report. There is a
present balance in the account of $1,557.79. Checks
were just written for the new trailer ($4,000) and the Pirate Cards

more on the Evening of Jazz than was given by Platte Valley Bank. Rather than have Jazz Band reimburse MPA for
this amount, George Bundy made a Motion to donate this to that group. Motion passed. The
Audit Committee reported the financial records are in order. Department Reports: Instrumental Department (Band): Mr. Jones introduced Erika Lipiec, who is the
student teacher. Uniforms have been issued
to most of the kids (about 130). The show,
“So You Want to be a Rock Star”, is over 12 minutes long, with over 40
charts. The kids have worked hard and are
doing well. The marching band has two open
weekends. The first competition is in Mr. Jones also spoke about the Color Guard,
which has six members. Sarah Larson is the
Color Guard sponsor. She’s an English

Evans needs e-mail addresses. Darrell
Warner is keeping the website updated. Trailer/Transportation:

which we’ll wait on. The new trailer
should be here before September 23rd. We
need wheeled carts for moving the instruments into and out of the
trailer. Awards/Recognition:
Linda Jenkins said the freshmen will be recognized on
Friday evening (end-of-band-camp potluck) for surviving marching band
camp. Chris Whalen spoke about the recognition

can order 1st place patches from her. First
place/Grand Champion patches will be ordered and paid for by Mr. Jones. Home Tailgates: Marion

She will send notes home with the students about the
potluck on Friday, August 11, Away Tailgates: The
chairman position is open. Richard
Anderson explained what this position involves. The
Clarinda competition is the most work for the Away Tailgates committee. Lisa Essig volunteered to head this up. Ways and Means: The
chairman position is open. Richard
Anderson mentioned the Country Mart fundraiser. We’ve
made $1,800 already from this, and we’ll soon get another check for
$2,200. Susan Anderson spoke about the
Pirate Cards, which she has. We can sign
up to take cards to sell, and return the unsold cards with the money
for the sold cards later. The Cherrydale
(Band) fundraiser will start soon. After
that is done, the students can sell Pirate Cards. She
also spoke about the antique show. At
present, the plan is to work at the gate again. Old Business: Senior yard signs—Bruce Breslow has ordered
wood. After the signs are cut, the senior
parents will paint them. They’ll be
displayed at the home football games and taken home in between games. Uniforms—Ruth Wilson is forming a committee to
work on alterations and repairs. We need
volunteers. Linda Jenkins has been
measuring the kids before they try on uniforms, and this has helped in
assigning uniforms that fit well and need very little alteration. Uniform cleaning—Premier Dry Cleaners here in
town will not charge a pickup/delivery fee. Mr.
Jones plans to switch to this company. New Business: Home football games—Sharon Shoemaker will rope
off a section for the band. Water bottles—We need someone to ice down the
water for games and competitions. The
water will be hauled in the older trailer on road trips. Liaison between Booster Club and MPA—Syl By-Laws Committee—We want to form a committee
to look over the By-Laws, make suggestions for changes, and present
these to MPA in Spring 2007. We introduced ourselves. Adjournment: The
meeting was adjourned at Respectfully Submitted, Ruth Wilson MPA Secretary
