MINUTES

January 8, 2007

The meeting was called to order by President Richard Anderson at 7:02 p.m.  There were 15 MPA members present.  The Minutes from the November meeting were accepted as transmitted (there was no December meeting).

Treasurer’s Report:  Pat Brune reported a beginning balance of $5,626.17, total expenses of $1,080.48, and an ending balance of $5,223.70.

Department Reports:

Band:  Dr. Jones said a schedule was sent home with the students outlining the Jazz Band, Wind Ensemble and Concert Band schedules through the Spring.  He mentioned the March 9th Wind Ensemble concert with the North Dakota State University Band.  The Four-State Band will perform on January 20th.  On January 22nd there will be an informational meeting in the Wilson Center regarding the Orlando trip, which was approved by Administration.

Jazz Band:  Mr. Bonsignore said February 10th is the first jazz band festival we’ll go to, the Missouri Western Jazz Festival.  He spoke about the various festivals and concerts on the schedule.  He mentioned the Evening of Jazz and the possibility of selling souvenir mugs.  There are extra Adult Large shirts left over that can be purchased.

Color Guard:  Sarah Larson spoke about her need for a flag cart for the trailer.  We decided to build her one.  There will be 20-25 students in the Color Guard next year.

Committee Reports:

Booster Club Liaison:  Syl Washington said we need volunteers for working in the concession stand during games.

Membership:  No change.

Communications:  No report.

Trailer/Transportation:  No report.

Awards/Recognition:  The Grand Champion patches came in.

Home Tailgates:  Marion Poole said her committee fed the audition judges and that went well.

Away Tailgates:  No report.

Ways & Means:  There are 197 Pirate Cards left.  Susan Anderson said we need volunteers to be gate workers at the Antique Show on March 17-18.

Old Business:

Band Uniforms – Ruth Wilson said about 32 uniforms were repaired before the Winter Concert.  Dr. Jones talked about new uniforms (outfits) for the Wind Ensemble, and he’ll check into this.  He also talked about the need for additional uniforms for the band, or new uniforms for the whole band.

By-Laws Committee – Anyone interested in being on this temporary committee should meet at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, February 12, before the next MPA meeting.

New Business:

Pirate Cards – As mentioned previously, we need to sell the last 197 cards.  We wondered if each student could sell one card.

Orlando Trip – Reservations for this June 3-8, 2008 (tentative) trip are due February 12. The cost is $780/person.  Meals on the way to Orlando and back are not covered.   In regard to fundraising, the students sold all but four or five Christmas wreaths.  The kids who sold these already have an account set up for the trip.  There will be one more fundraiser before the end of the school year.

Adjournment:  The meeting was adjourned at 7:57 p.m.  The next meeting will be Monday, February 12, 2007, at 7:00 p.m.

Respectfully Submitted,

Ruth Wilson
